What to Expect from Therapy

At Bangalow Clinical Psychology, we approach psychological therapy from a philosophy of personal growth.

Therapy with us invites you to develop an awareness and appreciation of your own needs, thoughts, motivations and influences. You’ll learn how these shape your behavior, understanding the origins and impact of your responses so you can make the necessary positive changes to your life.

Working together with you, our therapists tailor every session to your situation. We acknowledge you as a feeling, thinking, physical and spiritual being, ensuring that your core values, life experience and aspirations are the foundation to every conversation.

We guide you to discover how you can enrich your life through self-awareness and positive relationships, supported by your innate strengths and internal resources.

Information on Fees, Rebates and Referrals

Psychological therapy sessions with our Psychologists are charged at $230 - $250 per 50-minute session.

If you have a referral under a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP or Psychiatrist, Medicare will subsidise up to 20 of your therapy sessions per calendar year.   Consultations at BCP currently attract between 40-60% rebate from Medicare  ($87.45- $128.40). If you have reached your Medicare Safety Net Threshold, the amount rebated will be higher, and up to 80% of your out of pocket fees may be rebated. Check with Medicare Australia for more information.

If you have private health insurance which includes psychological therapy as an extras cover, you may be able to claim a rebate towards your fee. Please check your policy for more information and eligibility.

It is not necessary to have a referral to see a Psychologist, however you will need to self-fund the full cost of each session.
Some fee adjustments are possible. Contact us to discuss this further.
